Prosecco makes history with UNESCO heritage site status

This month, the rolling hills of Conegliano e Valdobbiadene, the Prosecco heartlands, were officially named a UNESCO World Heritage site. This designation supports and recognises the stunning natural beauty of the area and importantly, officially recognises its contribution to the world of wine as a site of “exceptional universal value”.

This is only the tenth site in the world to be awarded this title as a “cultural landscape”, and this status is shared alongside those wine "luminaries" - Champagne, Burgundy, and the Langhe of Piedmont. This accolade has taken 10 years to achieve and has been driven by the dedication of the winemakers of Prosecco Superiore DOCG. It clearly demonstrates the pride in the unique terroir and support for the outstanding quality of wines from that region.
